⭐️A group of social studies students took a trip to Minneapolis and got to experience the historical musical "Hamilton", which is based on the real life of one of America's foremost founding fathers and first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton. They also toured the Mill City Museum, which is built into the ruins of what was once the world's largest flour mill, located on the historic Mississippi Riverfront. The kids learned so much and had an amazing time!
State E-Sports Update!
An awesome experience! Out of the twelve teams that competed in Fortnite, our team placed 6th! After struggling a bit the first day of competition, they adjusted and found a way to bounce back the second day and came out victorious in the practice round to start the day and also won game 4. Fenworks changed it up this year at the tournament, so rather than having each team join random public lobbies, all twelve teams competed on a custom server against each other; however, the scoring system remained the same: 1 point for each elimination, 3 points for third place, 4 points for second place, and 5 points for first place. This means for teams to achieve first or second place at the state competition, they would need a strong accumulation of eliminations as well as placement finishes.
An additional positive that came out of the experience was the announcement that the league should have enough teams going into next season to separate the North Dakota and Minnesota teams, as this year the league was made up of teams from both states. In addition to that, there may be enough teams in North Dakota alone to have a division 1 and a division 2 league. This change will make a huge impact, as our team does view themselves ahead of the pack when it comes to the schools that would be placed in division 2 in North Dakota. This will also mean more opportunities for kids to attend state and would allow them to compete against schools with similar demographics rather than the class A schools who have dominated the last couple years.
